Cucurbits

The rather odd word "cucurbits" refers to plants we grow such as cucumbers and squash.

As all the zucchini jokes attest, they can be pretty productive. We don't grow zucchini since we like other types of summer squash better, but as the photo shows, it's not just zucchini that is prolific!

Our cucurbits have male and female flowers, so they need the help of bees. We have a very bee-friendly yard, so we get lots of their help.
